PTA President's Message

Yearbooks sold out!

Thank you to a wonderful yearbook committee – Karla Penney, Leslie Ann Roberts, and Teri Wenck – headed up by Yearbook Chair, Amber Daines.  Their dedication and hard work is more than evident in the beautifully designed and organized yearbook produced this year…thank you for going that extra mile to include this year’s Spring Festival!  That was no small feat considering the deadline was midnight of that very same day!  We are truly sorry for those who did not receive a yearbook either through advanced ordering or by purchasing one of the many extras (which sold out so fast!) – and hope that everyone keeps this in mind for next year.  In addition, if you would like to be part of the creative process next year, please email Amber Daines ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) so she can begin to make suggestions and help form the Yearbook Committee for 2012-13.

A big “thank you” as well to Eagle Scout, Mason Bloomfield, and his volunteers, who were responsible for laying the edging and the mulch on the quickly disappearing (i.e. eroding) pathway from the Bus Lane entrance to the front drive sidewalk.  As an added bonus, they also edged several trees, providing more defined areas for additional seating.  While the recent rains may have displaced a little mulch, the dirt run-off and muddy path we once had were all but eliminated.

Please be sure to consult the most recent Special Messenger for information on the rescheduled days for Track & Field.  We hope the volunteers who signed up for last week are still available and/or there are more folks for whom this week actually works better.

Also, the Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast will go on as originally scheduled – Monday, May 14th, @ 8a.m., in the Library.  Please stop by to honor those who volunteer and receive some well-deserved recognition yourself!

Finally, the new PTA Officers are continuing to receive emails from those interested in serving on next year’s PTA Board.  If you are interested in serving on the Board or helping in some way with a particular committee, please contact Alicia Barrientos-Lee ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or me to find out more…There is something for everyone…so, please come be a part of what makes Mills such a wonderful school for our children!

With appreciation,
Laurie Cullicott
