PTA Message

Dear Mills Families,

One would think that I would be thrilled to be writing my last PTA Message. It is a relief but somewhat bittersweet. My 2nd term is up as President of Mills PTA, and my daughter will be moving on to Middle School. I suppose that means that I’ll be graduating too. It is a bundle of emotions knowing that Mills won’t be our ‘home’ in the fall – everything from anxiety to excitement. So many familiar faces and friends who I would have never crossed paths with if I hadn’t been on PTA. I’m lucky to have had this opportunity to get to know this Mills Community and am honored to have been your President. Huge shout-out to this year’s PTA Board and good luck to next year’s officers and committee chairs. Keep doing great things!

If you pass anyone from the yearbook committee, please give them kudos. I had the pleasure of working on a few pages this year for the first time – what a group! So much heart went into these pages of memories. I believe this yearbook reflects the spirit of our Mills Community. Thank you Paula Waggoner, Adriana Ramirez-Byrnes, Sarah Williamson, Nathalie Hennessee, Sylvia Laughlin, Teri Wenck, Lindsey Clayton, Albertina Law, Denise Veselka, as well as Tracie DaSilva and Amy Jackson (faculty support). Here is a note to the committee from our Balfour representative who we have worked with for over 5 years. “The book is fabulous and so are all of you. Everyone is so on top of their game and dedicated to what they do. Y'all are awesome!”

So, only 2 more school days to go until our 5th graders take their Walk of Fame through these halls, students enjoy their End of Year slideshows, and we lower the flag to close out the 2017-2018 school year. The graduating high school seniors (who were once Mills graduates) and their families came back to Mills last week for a little reunion and recognition ceremony. They even got to walk these halls in their caps and gowns. I didn’t know them, but could tell that Mills was THEIR school too. They beamed when walking through those front doors and searching for their nametags on the counter. This definitely proves that proud saying “Once a Mountain Lions, always a Mountain Lion”.

Just a few last reminders:
