We have had a great beginning to our school year, and are enjoying the breathing room fewer students has afforded us. It really makes you remember that everythings' relative when we feel so much relief, but still have 900 students! Here are some things happening at Mills-
Facilities Update
Hopefully, if you drive by the school this weekend, you will have seen a huge drilling truck in the front and there will be three new holes drilled for the new columns. If that happens, our renovations in the front should be completed by the end of the month, although I haven't been given any specific timeline for completion.
They will also be working on the interior doors next week, and that should be completed by the end of the week.
Recycling Bin
I wanted to be sure that everyone knows that the paper recycling bin in the front parking lot is available to the community. So bring all your paper material - they take pretty much anything (newspaper, magazines, copy paper, etc.) except cardboard. The school benefits financially from the recycling, so we appreciate your recycling with us.
Pancake Breakfast
Join us for breakfast on Saturday, September 25 from 8-10:00am at Applebee's Restaurant on Highway 290 and help support our dyslexia program. We are so fortunate to have Regina Staffa and Kelly O'Mullan working with our dyslexic students again this year. While Kelly is volunteering while she gets her certification, we pay Regina with out of campus funds. This positiion is not funded by the district, but we feel it's very important, so we are raising funds to support this program. And it is such a deal! For $7.00, you get all you can eat pancakes, sausage, milk, juice and coffee, and get to be served by your favorite Mills staff members. It's a great deal for us, too, because we get to keep $5.00 from every ticket we sell. We'll have a list next week of all the teachers and staff and when they will be serving.
