librarian_clip_image002.jpgMy name is  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  and this will be my 6th year as the Mills Librarian and my 11th year as a librarian.  My previous teaching experience includes kindergarten and Early Childhood (PPCD).  I love being in the library and helping kids become life-long readers and lovers of books.  I also enjoy getting to know the wonderful Mills parents and hop you will visit the library often.  Also, Glenda Blaney is our new part-time library assistant who works in the library 10 hours a week in Mills Elementary school.

Pre-K and PPCD classes visit the library with their class every week for story time and book check-out.  Primary students (Kinder, 1st, 2nd) and intermediate students (3rd, 4th, 5th) have a scheduled library visit for library skills, literature appreciation and check-out every other week.  Parents and students may always check out new books before and after school.  In addition, there are numerous open check out times in the schedule when students may come in to check out new books.  Students in Kinder and 1st check out 1 book.  When ready, 1st grade teachers may allow their students to check out 2 books.  Students in 2nd grade generally check out 2 books.  Students in 3rd-5th may check out 3 books.  The student limit is 5 books at a time but generally 2 or 3 books are plenty for children to keep up with for the 2 week check out period.  Students are encouraged to bring their books back to school on their library day.  Overdue notices go out to teachers every Monday morning.  Students with overdue books will also receive a notice of their overdue books when they check out either with their class or individually.  After a month a book that is overdue will be billed and students will either need to pay for or return the book before checking out another book.  If a lost/paid book is later found it is possible to get a refund during the school year.

Volunteer Opportunities  Because of our large enrollment our library program depends on our wonderful parent volunteers to assist students in book selection and check out.

Fall Scholastic Book Fair is October 17-21 Mark your calendar!!
